Years of collaborations and friendships between musicians from Israel and Germany led to the formation of a unique chamber music project: named after the poetess and painter Else Lasker-Schueler, the Else Ensemble is composed of young musicians awarded prizes at international competitions and performers in leading world orchestras.
Devoted to the performance of German and Jewish repertoire from the 19th Century and until the present times, and through a passionate research of neglected works and repertoire affected by political events, the ensemble creates a musical experience of the highest professional level, within a social-cultural context. Inspired by Else Lasker-Schueler, whose unique biography addresses both Israel and Germany, the ensemble premiers and celebrates women composers, giving stage to some of the best unknown repertoire of the past and present times.
The young ensemble collaborates regularly with diplomatic and multi-cultural institutions, and initiates innovative, cross-disciplinary concerts. With its unique energy and sound, Else Ensemble performed all over Germany and Israel, as well as in many European cities, contributing to some of the most important concert-series and venues.
